Italy celebrated May Day or Labor Day today. Therefore most shops were closed. Nonetheless, our site-seeing began at the Castello Sforzesco.
since the masses were off work, many people were taking the day to relax in the city.
likewise, since tourist attractions were closed, tourists came here to view the outside of the Castle.
the Duomo. up close. this is the third largest church in the world.
Next, we met a friend of Marco's for a cup of coffee. This Milanese life is rough.
After coffee, we were off to meet another friend for an aperitivo, which is basically drinks and hors d'oeuvres which usually takes place of dinner. But on the way to a nearby bar, we met a parade.. and tons of people.
street shot. looks like Naples.
We quickly changed plans and began hoping that our car was okay and in a place where we could leave. Thank goodness, it was all of the above. After these snacks, we decided we were too hungry and made reservations for a Mexican restaurant at 10:30 - these nights get later and later. Somehow, all three of us fit in Marco's tiny Smart.
the car is completely black, I promise. a passing car's lights gave it a gradient.
Before dinner, we walked up and down a canal, one of only two that remain in the city. Similar to Venice, the city had multiple canals until the early 1900's.
so pretty.
After a delicious Mexican restaurant, we came home to sit and enjoy the weather on their rooftop terrace. Life cannot get sweeter.
Tomorrow is Espana!! I'm really sad to leave Italia, but can't wait to learn some more Espanol!
